Let's talk about smoothies.
They're everywhere.
๐ฅฌ Green smoothies
๐ Berry smoothies
๐ช Protein smoothies
And while we don't think there's anything wrong with them, we have to admit something:
We almost never drink them. ๐
๐ We'd Rather Eat the Berries
This might sound strange, but we've always preferred eating our food instead of drinking it.
If someone gives us a bowl of fresh berries...
Or a smoothie made from those same berries...
We're choosing the berries every time. ๐
Not because smoothies are unhealthy.
We simply like eating them whole.

The flavors
โ
The experience of actually eating
๐ฝ๏ธ Food Feels Different When You Eat It
One thing we've noticed is that smoothies go down very quickly.
Sometimes a smoothie that contains:
๐ Banana
๐ซ Berries
๐ฅ Nut butter
๐ฅ Yogurt
...can be consumed in just a couple of minutes.
But eating those foods separately would probably take much longer.
For us, eating food instead of drinking it naturally slows us down.
And we think that's a good thing.
โ Fun fact:
Speaking of drinking, Linda usually sips her coffee, but I gulp mine down in record time.
I don't like drinking slowly.
Imagine what I'd do to a poor smoothie. ๐คฃ
๐ Maybe We're Old-Fashioned
We know smoothies are convenient.
And there are definitely times when they make sense.
๐ช After a workout
โฐ Busy mornings
๐ฅฌ Getting extra vegetables
But we've never felt the need to replace meals with drinks.
Maybe we're old-fashioned. ๐
But we'd rather sit down and enjoy our food.
๐ฟ What We've Learned
Over the years, we've found that healthy eating becomes much easier when meals feel satisfying.
๐ซ Not rushed
๐ซ Not mindless
๐ซ Not something consumed while running out the door
Just real food that tastes good and leaves you feeling nourished.
And that's one of the reasons we still prefer a bowl of berries over a berry smoothie. ๐๐
